Interview with Marius K. – Apprenticeship as an Industrial Mechanic

Marius K. is in his fourth year of his apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic at K&S Anlagenbau in Lengenwang. In our interview, he shares insights into his daily challenges, the skills required for his profession, and how the company supports his professional and personal development.   1. What motivated you to choose this apprenticeship?
    “The decision to pursue this apprenticeship was an easy one for me, thanks to several compelling factors. In particular, the friendly staff and the positive work environment attracted me. Additionally, the opportunity to work on interesting projects with machines was exactly what I was looking for in an apprenticeship.”
  2. What does a typical workday look like during your apprenticeship?
    “A typical workday begins with a meeting with my instructor, during which we discuss what’s planned for the day. After that, I focus on the assigned tasks. This structure helps me organize my day efficiently and ensures that I learn the necessary skills.”
  3. What challenges have you faced so far during your apprenticeship, and how have you overcome them?
    “One of the biggest challenges was completing the work within the given timeframe. By developing a well-thought-out work plan and prioritizing my tasks, I was able to successfully overcome this challenge.”
  4. What skills or knowledge do you think are essential for someone in your training program?
    “For this training program, manual dexterity, technical understanding, and a passion for the work are essential. These skills enable you to successfully carry out the diverse and often complex tasks.”
  5. How does your training company support you in your professional and personal development?
    “My training company offers comprehensive support for both professional and personal challenges. They help me overcome problems and support me with my schoolwork, which helps me achieve my goals.”
  6. Where do you see yourself after completing your apprenticeship?
    “After completing my apprenticeship, I see myself in one of our departments, for example as a master craftsman or technician. This would allow me to deepen my knowledge and continue to advance within the company.”
  7. What advice would you give to someone considering starting the same apprenticeship?
    “For those looking for an apprenticeship with flexible hours and a good work environment, this is the ideal place. I would recommend taking on this challenge, as it’s an excellent opportunity to gain valuable skills and learn in a supportive environment.”
